Saxton Field Sports Stadium
From concept through to completion, Arrow International have successfully managed a 7,800m2 sports stadium project.
The stadium has been built with an international standard sprung timber (American Maple) floor and houses five international sized basketball/netball courts, 12 volleyball courts, a separate 900m2 table tennis stadium housing up to 12 tables - all in a 24hr operational facility.
The design was based on a similar stadium in Perth, Australia, utilising a lightweight steel truss system and buttresses. The iron roof system was rolled onsite, and is one single continuous sheet, clipped from underside, therefore negating the requirement for penetrating for fixings.
The environmentally sustainable elements used in the build include a precast concrete trombe wall, 125,000 litres of rainwater collection, storage and reticulation, and also solar heating.
The project was completed on time, to an extremely effective final cost that is likely to determine a tough benchmark to replicate.
