ARROW CELEBRATES 25 YEARS

Arrow Celebrates 25 Years

It's been an adventure since 1984

When Ian Ferguson was paddling to 3 gold medals in his kayak; you could buy a jug of Rheineck for a couple of bucks; David Lange celebrated his 4th term fighting for a nuclear free New Zealand; women clad in Lycra did Jazzercise and John Kirwan was debuting for the All Blacks…two Kiwi construction blokes called Ron Anderson and Bob Foster asked themselves a question. Who is looking after the client’s interests? This simple question was the origin of Arrow International.

The beginnings were small! It all started on a clear and frosty Dunedin morning in a basement office on Clark Street, with $250 worth of second hand furniture and a $200 typewriter! Ron and Bob began the launch of a company that provided a professional service to the New Zealand construction industry. It was going to be different to the rest. It would out perform all traditional methods and provide significantly better results.

“Integrity, Passion and Challenge” was their motto. Renown for their passion for the outdoors, they applied the same philosophies of the wilderness towards their work. Instead of a boardroom meeting or a corporate lunch, clients still talk about being taken on a tramping adventure, or trying to shoot a deer or catch a fish…. just to get to know one another. It was all about the people. People who love a challenge and have a passionate attitude. Honesty and integrity at all costs.

The down to earth, adventurous culture they instigated, is still a huge part of the Arrow culture today. 25 years on and almost every staff member at Arrow has a story to tell about one adventure or another they have been taken on with their team mates and clients.

From early beginnings at the infamous Captain Cook Tavern in Dunedin, DOC huts in the Southern Alps to new state-of-the-art schools and sports stadiums, Arrow’s board of directors and staff are proud of how far the company has come. In true Arrow fashion we will celebrate at a number of events – both indoors and outdoors!
